What is Christian Zionism, and why does it so urgently matter?
Christian Zionism is a widespread and well-funded movement within
Christianity that has gained increasing influence over US foreign
policy in recent years, especially in relation to Israel/Palestine and
Iran. At present, the conflict in Israel-Palestine continues with no
solution, with the plight of their peoples growing more dire day by
day. There are also serious concerns about U.S. military action against
Iran, with the potential for unleashing widespread destruction through
the Middle East and beyond. Understanding why Christian Zionists
welcome these events and work to hasten the deterioration of conditions
in the Middle East is essential to understanding the challenges of
peacemaking in this region.
We invite you to attend "Christian Zionism, Rapture and the Holy Land:
Theology and Politics" on October 4 at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.
This conference will define and critique the history, theology and
politics of Christian Zionism. The conference speakers make up a
nationally recognized body of experts. Information and materials for
continuing the discussion within your congregations will be available.
All are encouraged to attend...clergy and laypersons, students.
